The Drums, The Drums....

Hello,

Welcome to this weeks blog, excitement is currently building as we prepare to head north to Matlock Bath next weekend for Psychedelic Steampunk at The Pavillion - bands are due to start at 14:00 and there will be market from 11:00 - two good reasons to be there.

This week we continue our series of interviews with band members and put the spotlight on the man that can get a room full of people moving, he's the heartbeat of the band - prepare to meet Steve...

Name ; Steve

Instrument; Drums

Tell me about your musical background;
It's brief! Started drumming in my head at around 6 years of age. Finally had my first drum kit at the tender age of ... let's just say six years ago!

Who or what do you consider to be major influences on your music/playing;
The first record that had an impact on me was 'Bits and Pieces' by The Dave Clarke Five - it was the drum thing! Favourite drummers would include Simon Kirke, Bonzo, Moon, Mike Wengren, Cesar Zuiderwijk, Christoph 'Doom' Shneider. Jazz and Latin drummers - they do different stuff.

Favourite bands/artists/composers - and why;
Nick Cave because he is a genius. Talking Heads because they were geniuses. Jesus Jones - ahead of their time. Tyrannosaurus Rex - different and mystical. Rammstein - dangerous and in your face. Disturbed - like me. Jarvis Cocker - clever. Mark Radcliffe - not a musician but plays great music. Rob Zombie - great tunes and he can draw a bit too.

What interests do you have in addition to music?
My feline owners - Max & Hope. Getting in the kitchen. Taking pictures.

Any interesting facts or stories about yourself that you feel people need to know about?
Once stood next to a long haired geezer in a record shop in Stourbridge in 1974. He was buying a copy of 'Ugly Bug Ball' by Burl Ives. I knew who Burl Ives was, I didn't know who the long haired geezer was until my mate Stu nudged me and whispered: "That's Robert Plant, that is." "Who's he then?" I replied...

Thanks Steve

Sadly that's almost all we have time for this week, although we finish with the news that Quasar returned to Crimson Clock Tower this week, when asked where he had for the past few days been he replied "Impersonating a mountain.", that's right ladies and gentlemen, you've guessed it already - he's been snowed-on.

Thank you for reading, if you have any comments or would like to get in touch please do so via our Facebook page, we hope to see you in Matlock Bath, until next time, farewell....
