We've Never Been This Far Away From Home

Hello,

Welcome to this weeks edition of the blog.

Final preparations are now under way for our journey to The Second Surrey Steampunk Convivial which will be a day full of events and an evening filled with music. Further details can be found, and tickets purchased on the website. We can't quite believe it, but we have never been this far away from home for a gig before.

Our CD will be available on the day, and includes several of the songs we will perform on the night, if you would like to purchase a copy please be sure to speak to one of us. In fact we're quite happy to be spoken to regardless of desire for ownership of a CD, you may find that we like to speak and we love to be spoken to.

All being well, in our next edition we will be able to report just how serious the raffle was, describe the best cake in the world, advise on whether the miniature hot air ballooning was a success or a flight of fancy and describe the dastardly goings on during the Whacky Races.

Don't wait for our description of proceedings though, come along and witness every steam driven minute for yourself.

As ever if you would like to get in touch with us please do so via our Facebook page or email us at crimsonclocks@crimsonclocks.com.

Thanks for reading, and until next time, farewell.

Putting The Horse Before The Carriage

Hello,

Welcome to this weeks edition of the blog.

Things have been rather hectic at Crimson Clock Tower since we returned from Psychedelic Steampunk at The Pavillion in Matlock Bath last week. We are currently midway through our preparations for the journey to Surrey for The Second Surrey Steampunk Convival which takes place on 23 February.

There promises to be a full day of entertainments and distractions, followed by an evening of music, which will of course include ourselves. The carriage has recently been refurbished, the horses re-shod and all that is required now is for Quasar to load the trunks and we will be ready to set off. In case you are wondering, we couldn't get the rest of the elephants inside the carriage, there's only a limited amount of room onside, and a horse drawn TARDIS would be rather pointless wouldn't you say.

Speaking of Quasar, he is being unusually helpful at present, due to being in a rather good mood because his test results came back negative. We haven't the heart to tell him that isn't supposed to happen with an I.Q. test.

In other news, our website has recently been redesigned in a rather marvellous fashion, if you haven't had the opportunity to peruse it in all it's glory please be sure to do so. The splendidness can be observed here.

All of which brings us to the end of this weeks entry. If you've read this far then you probably deserve a medal, but we can only offer our grateful thanks.

As ever, if you would like to get in touch please contact us via our Facebook page, thanks for reading and until next time, farewell.

Waxing Lyrical...

Hello,

I hope this weeks blog finds you in good health and spirits.

Yesterday saw us at The Grand Pavillion in Matlock Bath for Psychedelic Steampunk at The Pavillion, organised by BB Black Dog (thanks for inviting us to play). Mike of BB Black Dog went beyond the call of duty in his efforts to raise funds to replace their stolen equipment by allowing people to tear a strip of wax off him at £2.00 a go. There seems to be either a lot  of charitable steampunks or a lot of sadistic ones, it was difficult to tell if they were getting so much pleasure from raising funds or if it was from Mike's howls of pain. He managed to raise in excess of £80, hopefully the money will be more permanent than the pain.

We took to the stage at around 16:30 and added a couple of extra numbers to our normal set. Thank you to those of you that were kind enough to let us know you had enjoyed the set - it's having people take the trouble to do so that makes it all worthwhile.

The next few weeks see us working on new material, and then on the 23rd we will be at The Second Surrey Steampunk Convivial, we hope to see you there.

Thank you for reading, as ever if you would like to get in touch please do so via our Facebook page until next time, farewell.

The Drums, The Drums....

Hello,

Welcome to this weeks blog, excitement is currently building as we prepare to head north to Matlock Bath next weekend for Psychedelic Steampunk at The Pavillion - bands are due to start at 14:00 and there will be market from 11:00 - two good reasons to be there.

This week we continue our series of interviews with band members and put the spotlight on the man that can get a room full of people moving, he's the heartbeat of the band - prepare to meet Steve...

Name ; Steve

Instrument; Drums

Tell me about your musical background;
It's brief! Started drumming in my head at around 6 years of age. Finally had my first drum kit at the tender age of ... let's just say six years ago!

Who or what do you consider to be major influences on your music/playing;
The first record that had an impact on me was 'Bits and Pieces' by The Dave Clarke Five - it was the drum thing! Favourite drummers would include Simon Kirke, Bonzo, Moon, Mike Wengren, Cesar Zuiderwijk, Christoph 'Doom' Shneider. Jazz and Latin drummers - they do different stuff.

Favourite bands/artists/composers - and why;
Nick Cave because he is a genius. Talking Heads because they were geniuses. Jesus Jones - ahead of their time. Tyrannosaurus Rex - different and mystical. Rammstein - dangerous and in your face. Disturbed - like me. Jarvis Cocker - clever. Mark Radcliffe - not a musician but plays great music. Rob Zombie - great tunes and he can draw a bit too.

What interests do you have in addition to music?
My feline owners - Max & Hope. Getting in the kitchen. Taking pictures.

Any interesting facts or stories about yourself that you feel people need to know about?
Once stood next to a long haired geezer in a record shop in Stourbridge in 1974. He was buying a copy of 'Ugly Bug Ball' by Burl Ives. I knew who Burl Ives was, I didn't know who the long haired geezer was until my mate Stu nudged me and whispered: "That's Robert Plant, that is." "Who's he then?" I replied...

Thanks Steve

Sadly that's almost all we have time for this week, although we finish with the news that Quasar returned to Crimson Clock Tower this week, when asked where he had for the past few days been he replied "Impersonating a mountain.", that's right ladies and gentlemen, you've guessed it already - he's been snowed-on.

Thank you for reading, if you have any comments or would like to get in touch please do so via our Facebook page, we hope to see you in Matlock Bath, until next time, farewell....

The Shape of Things to Come...

Hello,

This week we have been busy preparing for Psychedelic Steampunk at The Pavillion, and although it doesn't take place until the 2nd of February, as it's a celebration of the Sci-Fi (and the psychedelic elements of Steampunk) we can tell you that you had a great time there. Incidentally, if anyone is interested in time travel we will be hosting a meeting to discuss the subject last Wednesday, please feel free to join us. We had hoped that the Face of Bo would be making an appearance on the day, sadly he has had to cancel though because he has no body to go with. Regardless of that, it is shaping up to be another great event.

Our next appearance after that will be on 23rd of February at The Second Surrey Steampunk Convivial which also includes, Gladstone, Birthrite, Moth and a variety of entertainment during the day.

Don't forget that our E.P. featuring Evil Genius and Red Violin plus three other tracks is now available at all of our gigs (speak to any member of the band) and via our website should you feel the urge to own an item that we have poured our very heart and soul into, spent endless hours working on, played our fingers to the bone to perfect, et cetera et cetera and so forth (you get the idea by now no doubt).

And now, you'll be relieved to know, it's time for me to end this weeks blog.

Thanks for reading, if you have any comments or would like to get in touch please do so via our Facebook page, until next time, farewell.

Seen As Well As Heard...

Hello,

As you probably know our Glastonbudget audition took place on Tuesday and we would like to thank those of you that were there to support us. Particularly if you had taken a day off work to ensure your attendance (Paul) or were there despite having to be up for work at 3:00 a.m. the next day (George), or even if you were dragged screaming and kicking from your planned evening and forced to be there at musket point (hopefully not too many people were in that circumstance). We are also grateful to Mark from Birthrite  and Never Mind The Cogs for their support. The only downside to the evening was that being on last meant that some people who had come to see us had to leave before we took to the stage to ensure they caught the last train home (Roger and James), we do of course appreciate your support as well.

This week we also launched our Youtube channel, which can be found here, so we can now be seen as well as heard. Currently we have two videos on there with more set to follow very shortly.

The big question now is what are we going to do next? Well, the answer is that we will be at Psychedelic Steampunk at the Pavillion, in Matlock Bath on the 2nd February along with Dr Hasbeen, BB Black Dog, Birthrite, Metropolis and Whiskey Bob Shaker. Admission is free from 11:00 a.m. to 18:00 and then £10.00 for the evening performances. It promises to be a great day.

We now intend to seal ourselves away in Crimson Clock Tower for the next few weeks to prepare for the aforementioned event, unless of course anything should tempt us out in the meantime. It would have to be something extraordinary to do that though, such as cake, or biscuits, or strawberries.

Thank you for reading, if you would like to contact us please do so through our Facebook page.

Until next time, farewell.....

Tell Them We sent You.....

Hello,

I hope you all had a good New Year and haven't yet broken any resolutions.

On Tuesday (8th January) we will be at The Roadhouse in Stirchley for our Glastonbudget Audition, doors open at 18:00 and the order in which the bands will take the stage will be decided on the night. The number of people that are there to support each band is also taken into account when deciding who actually gets to play at Glastonbudget, so if you do come to support us please remember to tell them on the door that we are your band of choice. It would be great to see you there, and you would of course earn our eternal gratitude.

What will the set list be?
Will Linzi be throwing sweets into the audience?
Is it even possible for the jokes to be worse than last time?
Will we arrive by airship?
Will we succeed in or quest to play at Glastonbudget?
Will you be there to witness events?
Will Bruce Banner find a cure for his accidental overdose of gamma radiation related problem?

Some of the above questions will be answered on the night (I'm hopeful that includes a cure for Bruce, but if he succeeds millions of people in the entertainment industry will be out of a job, and as we all know the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few, or the one).

We hope to see you on the night.

As ever, if you would like to contact us please do through our Facebook page, thanks for reading and until next time...

Farewell
